A Perfect Match For Our Firm, Says Philadelphia Managing Partner

Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana law, signed into law last April, nixes any financial stake in the industry for elected public officials, but Sen. Daylin Leach, an industry ally, was hired by the Philadelphia law firm Sacks Weston Diamond weeks after the bill was signed. The firm lobbies on behalf of the industry and represents a client that won a Health Department license to operate a marijuana growing and processing facility. Andrew Sacks, the firm’s managing partner and head of its Cannabis and Hemp Department, said Leach was a perfect match for his firm. The Pennsylvania Ethics Commission gave Leach permission to take the of counsel position, but cautioned him not to use it for “pecuniary benefit.” Leach offers clients advice on medical marijuana licensing, permitting and regulatory rules, while continuing to play what the commission calls “an unofficial role in the development of the commonwealth’s policies and regulations regarding medical marijuana” as an elected senator.
