Artificial Intelligence Filling Cybersecurity Pro Gap

The U.S. needs about 200,000 more workers in cybersecurity roles to be able to counter criminal hackers, but a major change is in the works to address that problem – computers equipped with sophisticated learning algorithms for performing security jobs that, until recently, required humans. “If we fast forward … I think we will see a diminished role for humans,” Amir Husain, chief executive officer of SparkCognition, an AI startup, told CS Monitor. In May, IBM announced that it plans to train the cloud-based version of its Watson cognitive technology to detect cyberattacks and computer crimes. Currently, much data security work focuses on the inefficient and time consuming work of finding useful information in a pile of data. AI analysts will be able to cancel out some noise, and isolate potential patterns.
