Alarm Over Requirements For Fed Contractor Pay Data

The Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs routinely collects information from federal contractors, including data related to employee compensation. In a Q&A with Bloomberg BNA, Vedder Price attorney Marques O. Peterson discusses current and proposed requirements, and a concern among some contractors that information they provide will become public by way of third party requests under the Freedom of Information Act. He notes there are ways companies can address this threat, among them by labeling data as as confidential commercial and business-sensitive information.
