Chipotle Slammed With Worker Lawsuits

Chipotle is under siege with worker’s wage lawsuits in Colorado, Minnesota, and Texas. It recently settled with workers from Maryland, California, and Florida. The California class action, in which more than 38,000 workers claimed they experienced unpaid overtime, was settled for $2 million. In Colorado, one worker claims that when she was promoted to manager, the job came with minimal additional responsibility and prevented her from collecting overtime pay. Though Chipotle has recently extended paid sick leave, vacation, and tuition reimbursements to its hourly workers, the lawsuits are part of a national trend. Class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act have more than doubled in the last decade.
