Cosby Planning Lecture Series On Sexual Assault Law

Just days after a judge declared a mistrial in his sexual assault case, comedian Bill Cosby’s representatives announced he plans to host a series of town halls about sexual assault and the law. The town halls will be particularly important for young athletes, according to Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt. Young people “need to know what they’re facing when they’re hanging out and partying,” Wyatt told WBRC Fox News 6 in Alabama. Ebonee Benson, who is working for Cosby’s wife Camielle, added: “The statute of limitations for victims of sexual assault are being extended, so people need to be educated on a brush against a shoulder; anything at this point can be considered sexual assault and it’s a good thing to be educated about the laws.” Anti-sexual violence groups have criticized the idea. “It would be more useful if Mr. Cosby would spend time talking to people about how not to commit sexual assault in the first place,” RAINN spokeswoman Jodi Omear told the New York Times.
