Driver Hits Uber With FCRA Class Action Claim

An driver with ride-sharing service Uber has filed a class action against the company, claiming he was instead fired because of information provided to Uber in a third party consumer report, in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Abdul Mohamed worked as an ‘Uber Black’ driver, but within one month of being promoted to ‘Uber X,’ and buying a new vehicle to earn the distinction, Uber told Mohamed he was fired because a consumer reporting agency claimed he had a minor criminal record. The driver claims he was never given the chance to respond to or dispute the contents of the consumer report, as is required by FCRA.
