Google Abroad Confronts “Regulatory Contagion”

Regulatory agencies worldwide are taking on Google, the New York Times reports. The latest to weigh in is the Competition Commission of India, which is said to be investigating the company for ranking its own services ahead of competitors in its search function and in advertising. Brazil is looking into similar issues, while in Mexico a local authority is pushing the kind of right-to-be forgotten proposal that is already making headway in Europe. Other jurisdictions, on privacy grounds, are questioning Google’s data collection practices.
