Jail For Clerk Denying Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

A federal judge this week sent a Kentucky county clerk to jail, after the woman repeatedly refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses on religious grounds. The clerk, Kim Davis, was held in contempt and led to jail by U.S. marshals. “The court doesn’t do this lightly,” said District Court Judge David Bunning. Four same-sex couples sued Davis in July after she refused to grant them marriage licenses. “I’ve weighed the cost and I’m prepared to go to jail,” Davis told Fox News in an interview. “This has never been a gay or lesbian issue for me. This is about upholding the word of God.”
