NY State Supreme Court Justice Fleeced In Phishing Scam

New York State Supreme Court Justice Lori Sattler was scammed out of more than $1 million after she fell victim to an email phishing scheme. Sattler, who was trying to sell her Upper East Side apartment, thought the email came from her estate lawyer. She wired nearly $1.1 million to the Commerce Bank of China. “It is correct that the judge was the victim of a crime – and as it is a pending criminal matter we can’t comment any further,” Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for the Office of Court Administration, told SC Magazine.
