SCOTUS Spurns Franchisor’s $15 Minimum Wage Appeal

Seattle franchisors who disagree with the city’s planned ramp-up to a $15 minimum wage will not get a chance to argue before the Supreme Court. The International Franchise Association had claimed the minimum wage hike discriminated against them, treating Seattle’s 523 franchises like large businesses because they are a part of multi-state networks. They say franchises should instead be treated as small businesses, which were given more time to institute the wage hike.
