Starbucks Will Overhaul Work Scheduling Policy After Critical Times Article

After a New York Times article suggested Starbucks’ worker scheduling method made life unnecessarily difficult for some of the coffee chain’s employees, the company has announced it will be overhauling its system. The automated system Starbucks provides managers to create schedules for the company’s 130,000 baristas will be revised, the company announced, and all work hours will be posted at least one week in advance. The practice of “clopening,” or being assigned to close a store down one night and return after just a few hours to open, is being eliminated, the company said.
