Texas Lawyers On Trial For Falsifying BP Claims

As the trial of San Antonio lawyer Mikal Watts and six associates got underway prosecutors dropped 22 of the 95 counts they’d filed against the defendants. Watts, who denies wrongdoing, once claimed to represent more than 44,000 victims of the BP oil spill. He has filed a motion to ban some testimony because of alleged Brady violations by prosecutors. Watts says he didn’t receive 950 pages of grand jury testimony until 10 days before the trial.
