Three Judges Will Decide Internet’s Future

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals has appointed a three-judge panel to hear a case about net neutrality that could dramatically alter the Internet. The Washington Post profiles the judges – Sri Srinivasan, Stephen F. Williams, and David S. Tatel – who will determine the legality of the FCC’s recent rules keeping telecom companies from providing faster service to some websites over others. Relative newcomer Srinivasan is a wild card, the Post says, while Tatel authored Verizon v. FCC, the legal opinion that led to the current case. In 2014 Tatel, along with two other judges, said the FCC had overstepped by imposing net neutrality on Internet providers, and the FCC’s new rules were drafted with that ruling in mind.
