Yahoo Manipulated Worker Evaluations, Lawsuit Claims

A mass termination lawsuit claims that, in an effort to justify eliminating hundreds of workers as part of a cost-reduction strategy, Yahoo! Inc. manipulated employee performance evaluations. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in San Jose, Calif., accuses Yahoo of not providing appropriate notice, and discriminating based on gender by only promoting female candidates in some cases. “The employees were never told their actual metric numeric ranking or how it had been determined,” the suit reads. The quarterly performance review process is, therefore, “permitted and encouraged discrimination based on gender and any other personal bias held by management.”
