A Flurry Of Talcum Powder-Ovarian Cancer Lawsuits

Nationwide, more than two thousand lawsuits are trying to make the case that repeated dusting with talcum powder is a cause of ovarian cancer. In a notably plaintiff-friendly state court in St. Louis, Missouri, plaintiffs have been awarded more than $300 million. (An appeal is pending.) Now, with a handful of cases filed in California, LA Times columnist Michael Hiltzik takes a look at the science establishing the causal link on which these cases rest, and he finds it shaky.
