Amazon Sues Fake Reviewers

More than 1,000 anonymous Amazon users who sold their reviews to the website Fiverr are now being sued by the tech giant for “creating false, misleading, and inauthentic customer reviews.” Though they are relatively small in number, “these reviews can significantly undermine the trust that consumers … place in Amazon, which in turn tarnishes Amazon’s brand,” the company wrote in its complaint. Fiverr pays people $5 to perform small odd jobs, and the site itself is not named in Amazon’s complaint.
