Americans Of All Stripes Want Supreme Court Reform

A bipartisan majority of Americans support broad overhauls to the U.S. Supreme Court, including abolishing lifetime appointments and opening Court proceedings to television cameras, according to a recent Greenberg Quinlan Rosner survey. By a nearly two-to-one ratio, respondents thought the justices often let their personal and political views, rather than legal analysis, influence their decisions. The survey also found that 80 percent of respondents were opposed to recent campaign finance rulings and felt they would lead to more corruption. The survey was commissioned by Democracy Corps, a Democratic-leaning non-profit, and was said to have a margin of error of 3.1 at the 95 percent confidence level.
