Apple's 'Slide to Unlock' Patent Invalidated By German Court

Germany’s highest appeals court confirmed a 2013 ruling that rejected Apple Inc.’s attempt to patent its “slide to unlock” smartphone feature. The country’s Federal Patent Court had cancelled the Apple patent based on its similarity to a phone previously released by Swedish firm Neonode Inc. After filing for bankruptcy in 2008, Neonode remade itself into an intellectual property firm, licensing its patented technology for use in phones, tablets, and other devices.
