AZ Congressman, Conspiracy Buff, Gets Lawsuit Help From House GC

The General Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, Thomas Hungar, is asking a federal judge in Arizona to dismiss a lawsuit brought by two constituents of Rep. Paul Gosar. The plaintiffs, one of whom is running for the state senate in Arizona, contend that Gosar blocked them from commenting on his Facebook page. The congressman is a Tea Party Republican who received some national attention after he claimed during a Vice News interview that the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, VA, was a false flag operation backed in part by George Soros, described by Gosar as a Jew from Hungary who “turned in his own people to the Nazis.” Hungar maintained the plaintiffs don’t have standing to file the lawsuit because they are no longer being blocked, but he also noted the First Amendment “does not guarantee access to government property simply because it is owned or controlled by the government.” The plaintiffs are being represented by the American Civil Liberties Union.
