BigLaw Firm Hit With Anonymous $50M Gender Bias Suit

In an anonymous lawsuit, a female partner at Proskauer has filed a $50 million gender bias suit against the firm. The suit says the plaintiff was among the most productive equity partners at Proskauer, yet was paid millions less than her male counterparts who were similarly or less productive. The anonymous plaintiff also claims to have been retaliated against when she brought up the issue, by being excluded from partner meetings, client development activities, and the firm retreat. Proskauer, which is defending Chadbourne & Parke in their discrimination lawsuit, said the claims in the suit were “groundless,” and an attempt to “squeeze a massive payout from our firm.” The firm said the plaintiff was among the highest-paid partners in her department, and that she “offered little complaint about her compensation until just a few months ago, when her business began to decline dramatically and she apparently became fearful that her compensation might be reduced.”
