Can You Bypass Salary Wars With “Non-Monetary Benefits”?

In the face of recently announced first year associate salaries of $180,000 at dozens of big law firms, the executive director at Robert Half Legal looks at some plausible alternatives for law firms and legal departments that can’t or decide they don’t want to be in this contest. He offers five suggestions for how legal managers can hire and retain top talent without getting wholly into the salary race. He notes that in his firm’s recent survey, nearly a third of legal managers in both law firms and legal departments said they were planning to add staff the second half of this year.
