Declining ABA Revenue Inspires A Rebuke

The operating budget of the American Bar Association has declined significantly over the past several years. For fiscal 2017, the deficit was more than $7 million, and there have been layoffs. A former solo practitioner (now a self-described sellout “back on the corporate ladder”) provides a take on the difficulties, and he does not mince words. He cites three complaints that he commonly hears from solos and smaller firms.
