David Dao was physically dragged off a United Airlines plane at Chicago’s O’Hare airport this weekend, when he refused to leave the flight, which was overbooked. Video of Dao being removed against his will went viral online, and led to outrage from passengers already fed up with mounting fees and declining service in the airline industry. According to the Chicago Tribune, Demetrio’s practice centers on medical negligence, product liability, airplane crash and commercial litigation on behalf of plaintiffs – and he has negotiated more than $1 billion in settlements. Local and federal authorities have raised questions around the incident, and it was even mentioned by the White House. United CEO Oscar Munoz released a statement saying he “continue[s] to be disturbed by what happened on this flight.” The aviation security officer who pulled the man from his seat was placed on leave this week, and United has said it will conduct a review of its own policies.
