Editors For ‘Survivor’ Return From Strike Over Right To Form Union

The editors for the long-running reality show Survivor have been granted union recognition after a one-day strike. Reality television often relies on freelance workers or other non-union members, and is known for providing lower wages and uncertain work conditions. A one-day strike on Wednesday got them an agreement to negotiate a union contract, and the contract strike was suspended, though the Motion Picture Editors Guild National Executive Director, Ron Kutak, said, “The strike isn’t over until the contract’s done, so they could walk at any time.” The remaining issues involve pensions and health care.
