Ex-Judge Accused Of Rigging Lotto

Two brothers – one a lottery security director and the other a former justice of the peace – are being accused of rigging payouts in multiple states. Eddie Tipton worked for the Iowa-based Multi-State Lottery Association while he rigged a $16.5 million jackpot in Iowa, and his younger brother Tommy Tipton, a former justice of the peace and reserve police officer in Flatonia, Texas, was charged this week with similar counts in Colorado and Oklahoma drawings. Tommy Tipton turned himself in, rather than fight extradition. “This is a guy who, until a few months ago, was a judge,” Tipton’s lawyer, Randy Schaffer, said. “He’s going to hopefully … be professional and responsible in his dealings.”
