Executive Order For Government Contractor Employers – And A Backlash

President Obama has signed a “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order” which includes, among other provisions, a requirement that offerors of procurement contracts worth more than $500,000 disclose whether they have violated certain labor laws within the previous three years. If so they must attest to having corrected and complied. Prime contractors need to incorporate similar provisions into their subcontracts. Meanwhile, The Hill reports that a major contractor trade group says federal contractors “across all industries” are going to fight the order in the courts and in Congress.
