Forget Class Actions, Says Concussion Lawyer, Now Targeting The NCAA.

The attorney who first made the case against the NFL over player concussions – and who was once featured by the NYT Times magazine as the crusader who could “change football forever” – says the class action strategy that defined that crusade turned into a quagmire. Attorney Jason Luckasevic has now turned his attention to the NCAA, and he’s going at it with a very different legal strategy: filing cases one at a time in state courts. The NCAA is ripe for a reckoning, according to Luckasevic. who claims medical journals were warning against the effect of concussions as early as the 1900s. The NCAA’s own medical handbook referenced it in 1933, he says, when the common term in both football and boxing was “punch drunk.”
