Get Back To Your Office, Morgan Stanley CLO Tells Outside Counsel

Lawyers who were forced to work from home by the pandemic have become fond of doing so, even though the legal industry was slow to embrace remote work policies and the technologies that facilitate it. According to a mid-2020 survey by Loeb Leadership, 67 percent of attorneys wanted to continue working from home. According to research by Harvard Business Review, flexibility leads to increased productivity for knowledge workers such as attorneys, who report higher engagement with work when they can manage their own time. Nevertheless, much of the legal industry is pushing hard for attorneys to return to their offices. Morgan Stanley Chief Legal Officer Eric Grossman recently sent out a memo demanding that his company’s outside counsel return to their offices.
