Is it a trade war or just a negotiating tactic? Unclear, says this post from Haynes & Boone insurance coverage attorney Michael Skidmore. But what is clear, he says, is that “the more expensive it is to trade between affected nations, the less international trade is likely to happen. And if trade is reduced, some companies will lose money.” As a strategy to address this risk, the author suggests taking a close look at two types of policies not normally associated with it: political risk insurance and trade credit insurance. However, you need to keep in mind there are no standard forms for either one, and you should look carefully at terms and exclusions.
