Hiring A Good Chief Marketing Officer

Many law firm leaders report that a good marketer is hard to find, but that’s often because they don’t know what they are looking for or how to make the selection, writes Timothy B. Corcoran, consultant and a recent president of the Legal Marketing Association. He lays out seven recommendations for firms that want to improve the process, starting with understanding the firm’s financial goals and market vision, and learning to stick to it. Another recommendation is to recruit someone who either understands the business needs of the firm’s clients, or has a plausible strategy for acquiring that understanding.
