Husband Of Linklaters Attorney Snared In Insider Trading Case

The man, an MIT researcher, is said by the SEC to have googled such terms “how sec detect unusual trade” and “insider trading in an international account” before carrying out trades that netted about $120K, based on information provided by his wife, a Linklaters associate. The trades involved two companies that were working with the London-based law firm on acquisition deals. The man, said to have bought stock in the companies in his mother’s name and then sold after the deals were made public, has been charged with insider trading and mail fraud. His wife has been suspended by the firm, but she has not been charged.
