Judge Won’t Dismiss Quicken Lawsuit

Quicken Loans must face court over allegations that it fraudulently stuck the government with bad mortgages, after a Detroit federal judge refused to dismiss the case. Quicken is accused of cutting corners when verifying the income of some borrowers, and of seeking improper appraisals on homes so it could make a larger mortgage. The loans were insured by the Federal Housing Administration, which paid Quicken back for defaults. Judge Mark Goldsmith did say, though, that the case should be narrowed to claims made from spring 2009 to 2011.
