Kenneth Starr Leaves Post At Baylor

Kenneth Starr, former independent counsel whose aggressive investigation of then-President Bill Clinton’s peccadilloes was applauded by Clinton’s foes, was demoted to Chancellor from his post as President of Baylor after a review criticized the university’s response to sexual assault allegations. Now Starr has said he will resign from that post as well, though he will still teach at Baylor’s law school. His resignation was “a matter of conscience,” Starr told ESPN. He added that, though he “didn’t know what was happening” regarding allegations that Baylor mishandled complaints from sexual assault victims, he “willingly accepted responsibility.” He added: “The captain goes down with the ship.” Baylor football coach Art Briles was also suspended pending termination, and athletic director Ian McCaw resigned.
