Lack of Digital Maturity in Top Law Firms Revealed
November 11, 2022

Ultimedia’s recent flagship Digital Maturity Report reveals a lack of maturity in the digital offerings of top law firms. The report shows that there’s a considerable investment in top-tier website technology, yet big names are failing to perform digitally in terms of website effectiveness. The Digital Maturity Report tests and analyzes the performance of the top 100 firms across 10 core digital marketing aspects, including audience level, website effectiveness, search and content marketing, and social media. The firms are benchmarked against digital best practices and scored across the 10 aspects, resulting in an overall digital maturity score.
The report explores in depth their weaknesses and strengths and how each firm performed. It shows a “clear relationship between the overall digital maturity of law firms and organic search marketing performance.” It demonstrates the significance of search engine optimization, email marketing and website visitors’ opportunities to subscribe. At present, all 100 firms are woefully lacking. Even the top-scoring firms DLA Piper and Baker McKenzie failed to reach a score above 66%. Taking into consideration the inability of top legal firms to come to grips with digital marketing, the report highlights major areas of improvement for each firm.
