Law Student Saves BigLaw Partner From Attack, Gets Summer Associate Gig

John Rowley III, a partner at Baker McKenzie, cannot remember being attacked at a Washington D.C. metro station in May, but he knows George Washington law student Andrew Miller intervened to possibly save his life. Rowley was knocked down at the station, and witnesses said the teenagers kicked him and pushed him toward the train. Miller intervened, and the group of teens fled. “I practiced law for quite a while now and, frankly, natural leaders are hard to find,” Rowley said. “When I met [Miller] and I got to know him a little bit, reflecting back on the courage of jumping in, he was the kind of person that we wanted to have here at the firm this summer.” Miller started work June 12.
