Life As The Nation’s Tweetingest Judge

Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willett wrote a “Day in the Life” piece for the Wall Street Journal, outlining what an average day looks like for the self-described “tweetingest judge in America.” Willett says he stays up until 2:30 a.m. reading briefs, spends long days rewriting rulings at his local Chick-fil-A, and spends a lot of his time on Twitter. “Re-election comes every six years,” he writes of his social media habit. “If you’re an obscure judge whose name ID hovers between infinitesimal and zilch, it’s political malpractice to neglect social media.” He says he is well-suited for the “cloistered Supreme Court life,” and says that his experience riding bulls “comes in surprisingly handy” during conferences to discuss cases.
