Loretta Lynch Nomination Still Stalled

An anti-human trafficking bill, and the nomination of Loretta Lynch to succeed Eric Holder as Attorney General, are sharing a common fate. Neither can move forward because of partisan disagreement about abortion. Lynch’s views on the topic are not at issue, but Republicans in the Senate are determined to deny her a vote until Democrats agree to put abortion restrictions in an otherwise uncontroversial bill to fight human trafficking. Lynch’s nomination has been pending for more than five months.
