How far is too far when it comes to “zealous advocacy?” Jathan Janove, author and employment lawyer at Ogletree Deakins, says that practicing attorneys can learn from martial arts – from Akido for example, where  “the defender blends with the attack, using the attacker’s momentum to move him or her to a place and position where no one gets hurt.” Zealous advocacy should be tempered, Janove writes, for the benefit of the client as well as the attorney.
