“Neither Admit Nor Deny” Defended By New SEC Chair

“You get that money out to investors very quickly,” said SEC Chair Mary Jo White. But she qualified her remarks, suggesting that SEC’s policy of letting firms settle civil charges with  “neither admit nor deny” will be reviewed. The policy has come under withering criticism from, among others, U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff in the Southern District of New York.
