Prison Time, And Required Reading, For Eco-Terrorist

An eco-terrorist who turned herself in after eluding authorities for nearly a decade has been handed a prison sentence – and a reading assignment. In her decision, Portland, Ore. District Court Judge Ann Aiken ordered Rebecca Rubin to serve five years in prison for setting fires in the 90s as a member of the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front, and that she  read David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell, and Nature’s Trust by environmental law professor Mary C. Wood. The judge said Gladwell’s pop-science book would help Rubin understand non-violent protest strategies.
