Republican Bill Would Swap Vacation For Overtime

Private sector employees could choose to take paid time off in lieu of overtime pay under a bill introduced by Senate Republicans. The Family Friendly and Workplace Flexibility Act would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act to create the optional time-and-a-half credit-hour program, allowing employees to accrue hours to be taken off at a later time. Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) both introduced nearly identical versions of the bill, companions to House legislation passed in May.
