Sprint T-Mobile Agreement Looms

A mid-October announcement of a merger agreement between Sprint and T-Mobile is likely. The two companies have decided that Deutsche Telekom, parent of T-Mobile, will have control when the transaction is complete. Senior T-Mobile executives, led by CEO John Legere, would manage the combined company. The discussions revolve around a stock-for-stock deal and many details have yet to be completed. A merger between the two companies was nixed under the Obama administration, but regulators appointed by President Donald Trump are said to view the deal more favorably. Nevertheless, approval is uncertain. Neither Sprint nor T-Mobile has performed due diligence, and price discussions haven’t started.
