Twitter, Uber On Most Likely To Fail In 2018 List

Ars Technica has published it annual Deathwatch, a list of companies and trends most likely to tumble into a downward spiral in 2018, due to technical, economic, and/or cultural irrelevance. Heading the list is Uber, which faced a string of embarrassing scandals in 2017, none of which, according to Ars Technica, is among the main problems it faces in 2018. Those are: annual losses of billions with no clear strategy for profitability, and the imminent threat of driverless taxi services.The magazine acknowledges that Twitter has never been more relevant – the president of the United States uses it as his official channel of rage, it has added characters and even streams football – but says it is nevertheless headed for the garbage dump of history because it is simultaneously bleeding cash and dealing with social media toxicity. The Deathwatch also includes Faraday Future, LeEco, and net neutrality rules and other net-related consumer protections in the U.S.
